People
The club is a small group of operators and collaborators who work together at a distance.
Not a local club
Although the WU1ITU callsign belongs to the first call district, Valley Swamp Amateur Radio Club is not a local club for that region. It doesn't have periodic in-person meetings and runs no repeater or local net, and it does not offer licensing classes or exam sessions.
If you are looking for a club to meet in person in Massachusetts, the ARRL’s club search is a good place to start. If instead what interests you is remote operating, difficult propagation paths, or propagation research, this website may be place to explore.
Remote operation and collaboration
The club’s activity is spread across remote stations, portable operations, and partners in other countries. People contribute in different ways:
- The core team (U.S. license required) that keeps the station on the air during openings on 160 m and 6 m.
- Operators outside the U.S. who share insights into marginal paths that may be workable.
- Software developers and testers who look at how decoders behave with weak and fading signals.
- Data analysts who compare logs with Reverse Beacon Network, pskreporter.info, and WSPRnet.org reports.
